Customs and currency: Tourists from the USA need not procure a visa provided their stay in Tunisia does not exceed maximum period of four months. Firearms may be carried provided the rigid (but normal) regulations prescribed are strictly adhered to.



The government prohibits the import or export of Tunisian dinars but there are no such restrictions on foreign currencies, and US dollars can be freely brought in or taken out. When leaving the country, travelers face no restrictions in taking out all foreign currency that they have brought in or that they may have obtained within Tunisia. Records of these transactions should be shown as evidence to certify their legality.
